Kano-Uso Shōjo Manga Inspires Hugging Body Pillows

Romance with green-lit film also gets Kare wa Gyōza o Ai Shisugiteru spinoff

The September issue of Shogakukan's Cheese! magazine announced on Tuesday that it is offering dakimakura (hugging body pillows) inspired by Kotomi Aoki's Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru romance manga. The spinoff manga Kare wa Gyōza o Ai Shisugiteru also debuted in the same issue's bonus "Cheese! Kitchen" booklet.

Hugging pillows are available for the characters Aki and Shinya in a small 90-centimeter by 40-centimeter (about 35-inch by 16-inch) size for 9,800 yen (about US$125) and a large 180-centimeter by 40-centimeter (71-inch by 16-inch) size for 15,000 yen (US$192). Cheese! is accepting orders until August 24.

Aoki launched the manga in Cheese! magazine in 2009, and Shogakukan is publishing the manga's ninth compiled book volume on Thursday. Cheese! announced in February that a live-action film adaptation has been green-lit.
