Making a Living in Manga in Japan with Felipe Smith
Lost in Translation
The official Japanese PlayStation YouTube channel has posted a video announcing and previewing a live-action commercial for the upcoming Earth Defense Force 3 Portable PS Vita game. The commercial will be directed by B-movie director Minoru Kawasaki (Everyone but Japan Sinks, Executive Koala, Crab Goalkeeper) and has a planned run time of roughly two minutes. The preview mostly focuses on footage of Kawasaki drinking beer.
A press conference on the commercial was held at a 15-person bar in Nakano, Tokyo on Monday, where Kawasaki spoke to roughly ten reporters, stating that the commercial would be a live-action tokusatsu production with a story similar to the last episode of Ultra Seven.
The official website for the game is currently taking applications for fans to appear as extras in the commercial. Those selected to appear will also receive special gifts and the opportunity to play an early copy of the game, which is currently scheduled for a September 27 release in a regular edition for 5,800 yen (about US$74), a downloadable edition for 5,000 yen (about US$63), and a 6,980 yen "Double Enlistment" pack (about US$89).
Update: System corrected. Thanks, Primus.
