Tiger & Bunny Designer Katsura Makes His Acting Debut

posted on by Egan Loo
Masakazu Katsura guest-stars in live-action detective show from T&B writer Masafumi Nishida

Masakazu Katsura, the original character designer of Tiger & Bunny and the creator of such manga as Video Girl Ai and I''s, is adding a new title to his résumé: actor. He will guest-star in Jikken Keiji Totori (Experimental Detective Totori), the new live-action buddy detective show that just premiered on Saturday.

Not coincidentally, the writer of all five Jikken Keiji Totori episodes is Masafumi Nishida, a screenwriter who made his anime scripting debut in Tiger & Bunny. Nishida said that they are keeping Katsura's role (and when he appears) a secret, so viewers have to watch the series to find out.

Hiroshi Mikami (in beige coat in photo to the left) stars in Jikken Keiji Totori as the title character, a 43-year-old animal researcher who decides to apply his skills as a detective. Mitsuomi Takahashi (pictured with navy blue coat) plays the detective Yasunaga who is partnered with Totori. Even though he is years younger, Yasunaga must play the sempai to the rookie Totori.

Nishida said he chose to write Jikken Keiji Totori since the live-action series was the change of pace he needed after writing the Tiger & Bunny films.
