Infinite Stratos Novels Resume in April With Artist Choco

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The new Japanese entertainment production company Overlap began streaming a promotional video for its Infinite Stratos "reboot" project on Friday. The video reveals that Overlap will resume the Infinite Stratos light novel series with the eighth volume on April 25, 2013.

Infinite Stratos light novel creator Izuru Yumizuru is returning to write the story, but with artist CHOCO drawing the illustrations. The new Overlap Bunko imprint will publish the book. The special edition version will bundle a DVD with a "secret" cast video.

The promotional video also revealed that Overlap will release new editions of the series' first seven volumes in 2013. The new first and second volumes will ship the same day as the series' eighth volume, followed by the third and fourth volumes on May 25, the fifth and sixth volumes on June 25, and the seventh volume on July 25. Media Factory previously published the science fiction series under its MF Bunko J imprint, and the seventh volume was released in April 2011.

Overlap will also host the "IS All-Night Festival" on April 20. The event will include screenings of the Infinite Stratos television anime, and five members of the series' voice cast will attend. Advance copies of the light novel series' eighth volume will also be available for purchase. The main venue will be the Cinema Sunshine building in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district.

Overlap is offering the new Infinite Stratos novella Hana wa Hana Narite Hana no Gotoshi in a bundle at the Comic Market (Comiket) 83 event from December 29-31.

Yumizuru confirmed in June that he was writing a new work as well as more Infinite Stratos simultaneously.
