Free demo for strategy RPG available in Nintendo eShop on January 17

Nintendo of America announced on Friday that it will release a Fire Emblem: Awakening Nintendo 3DS hardware bundle in the United States and Canada. The company will release more information on the bundle soon.

Nintendo revealed on Thursday that it will release a free demo for the game in North America on the Nintendo eShop on January 17. Nintendo also revealed that it will release downloadable content for the game starting with a map that will be available for free for a limited time when the game launches. Nintendo additionally announced that it will distribute new content for the game via SpotPass for free, and the game will also use the Nintendo 3DS' StreetPass function.

Nintendo confirmed last June that it will release the strategy role-playing game on the 3DS system in the United States, after registering its web domain in April. Nintendo will release the game on February 4 both physically and digitally for US$39.99.

The game already arrived in Japan last April under the name Fire Emblem: Kakusei. Intelligent Systems developed this latest title in the Fire Emblem fantasy series with two-player co-op gameplay. It introduces new features while retaining gameplay elements from the series' previous installments.
