A Link to the Past follow-up coming to 3DS; Wind Waker remake coming to Wii U

Nintendo unveiled a gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds at its E3 press conference on Tuesday. The game, which will be for Nintendo 3DS, is the previously announced follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

The new game will be set in the same world as A Link to the Past, but it will take advantage of the 3D screen of the Nintendo 3DS to give players a better sense of a dungeon or maze's multiple levels in three dimensions. It will also let players put their hero Link in 2D "Paper" mode to slide along walls and around obstacles.

No release date has been announced, but Nintendo previously listed the game for an early 2014 release in stores and via download for in Japan, while North America will get it this holiday season.

Nintendo also released a gameplay trailer for its upcoming HD port of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for Wii U. The trailer demonstrates the HD graphics, and new features such as the ability to speed up your boat.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will ship in October.
