Live-action 'Another' star to play school 'prince' Shūsei in film opening next spring

Actor Kento Yamazaki is co-starring as Shūsei in the live-action film adaptation of Ayu Watanabe's L DK shōjo manga. Yamazaki starred as Koichi Sakakibara in the live-action film adaptation of Yukito Ayatsuji's horror novel Another, and he is currently acting in the 35-sai no Kōkōsei television drama.

Ayame Gōriki (live-action Black Butler, Gatchaman, Mirai Nikki - Another: World) is starring in the film as Aoi. Yasuhiro Kawamura (live-action Nodame Cantabile, Himitsu no Akko-chan films) is directing the film, and Yūko Matsuda (live-action Gokusen series) is handling the scripts. The film is slated to open in Japan in spring 2014, and filming is set to start in the beginning of July.

The manga follows Aoi, a high school girl who lives by herself. Through one circumstance after Another, she ends up living under the same roof with the "prince" of her school, Shūsei. (The manga's title is a wordplay on "LDK," the abbreviation for "living room, dining room, kitchen" in Japanese apartment ads.)

Watanabe launched the manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Friend magazine in 2009, and Kodansha published the 12th compiled book volume last month. The manga has more than 2.7 million copies in print.
