Real Life Recipes for Anime Food

posted on by Bamboo Dong
A list of blogs where you can get your own recipes for the food you see in anime!

Have you ever found yourself watching an anime series, and the characters start eating some of the most delicious-looking cookies you've ever seen, or a bowl of the most incredible ramen ever drawn, and you find yourself drooling on your keyboard until it's a wet, sloppy mess?

Oh... uh... us neither. Because that would be weird.

But hypothetically, let's say someone did want to eat some anime food, here are some great blogs we've found that can help you satisfy that craving with recipes for food you've seen in anime.

Culinary Adventures and More

This blog has both recipes and comparison pictures, and includes dishes like the omelet rice from Hanasaku Iroha, Naruto-shaped onigiri, and this delicious-looking strawberry mille crepe from Yumeiro Patissiere. Drool.

Anime B&B: Bits & Bites of Anime Goodness

Anime recipes include mouth-watering dishes like the curry bread from Yakitate!! Japan and links to recipes for the guimauve from Blood C (without the blood). (This forum thread also has a recipe for guimauve and some others.)

The blog also has some interesting anime-inspired food commentary, including this conversation on conscious consumerism inspired by the anime and manga series Silver Spoon, and this primer on various desserts and terms inspired by the gals of Dog Days.

Anime Recipes

The Anime Recipes Tumblr is a great place to check for recipes too. Recent entries include fish pie from Kiki's Delivery Service and links to recipes like raspberry parfait from the official Black Butler Tumblr.

Real Anime Food

The Real Anime Food Tumblr is a great place for anime-inspired recipes, as well. Recent recipes include "Rin's Super Yellow Okumura Rin Special" from Blue Exorcist and pork buns from Kanon. (The image above is the Sourire de l'Ange from Yumeiro Patissiere.)

Itadakimasu Anime!

This blog has recipes for anime-inspired food ranging from the all-American hamburger (with pictures from Paprika and K-On as inspiration) to Swiss roll cakes to curry naan from Polar Bear's Cafe. Pictured above is a recipe for dorayaki, seen in shows like Doraemon, Nichijou, and more.
