Yozakura Quartet's Yasuda Draws Tower Records' Anime Mascot

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Tower Record's staff of anime characters hired its newest member, Sakura Mentō, courtesy of Yozakura Quartet manga artist Suzuhito Yasuda. Tower Records describes Sakura as a woman in her 20s, a ditzy yet charismatic girl that enjoys eating, heavy drinking, and music. Her hair is naturally curly.

Tower Records already has two anime mascots also drawn by Yasuda. Kazune Hirashima, the described "manager" of Tower Anime. He's a cool, no-nonsense type that will snap when it's necessary. He loves anime and music equally and honestly gets a bit scared at night.

Also on the Tower Record's staff is Reiko Tawa (the name is pun on "Tower Records" when written in Japanese), the "main character" and a teenage girl. Reiko is a "tsukkomi," or character who butts in to correct mistakes and deliver a quick slap. She's smart and attentive to others needs and likes to change her hairstyle on occasion. She enjoys both anime and music.

Tower Records has put up decals of the characters in its Tower Anime specialty store focusing on anime, Vocaloid, and game music. The specialty shop is the first of its kind for Tower Records and it opened after a renovation on October 31.
