NASA's Valkyrie Robot Planned For Mars

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

NASA recently unveiled its Valkyrie robot planned to set foot on Mars. The robot was created as part of the DARPA Robots Trial event tasked individual teams to create a robot that could perform a variety of tasks including: drive a utility vehicle, travel across complex terrain, remove debris blocking an entryway, open a door and enter a building, climb a ladder, break through a wall, and other similar complex tasks.

Unfortunately, it looks like Valkyrie didn't score any points in this year's competition. NASA plans to send robots based on Valkyrie to Mars before astronauts to work on the planet.

If you're not a certified astronaut, you can try your luck with the Mars One mission looking to colonize the planet.
