Appleseed Armor Comes to Life With Robotic Exoskeleton

posted on by Bamboo Dong

Sagawa Electronics' power exoskeleton, the Powered Jacket MK3, just got a major anime facelift. Revealed last July (along with a ¥12.5 million price tag), the suit was already pretty cool, considering it had metallic limbs that would mimic the movements of its pilot.

Thanks to model and garage kit manufacturer Dai Nihon Giken, though, the MK3 now also has an exterior to match. The company has created attachable armor using Lion Board urethane that, visually anyway, transforms the power suit into a Landmate from Appleseed.

Here's a video of the MK3 sans Landmate armor that shows more of how the power suit works.

Of course, if you're willing to hold off for a while, you can get your hands on the MK3's successors, the MK4. So far only a few demo videos are available, but it promises to be lighter and stronger.
