Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic manga creator Shinobu Ohtaka wrote on her Shokakugan Manga Sunday blog that "It is with a bitter heart that I will have to draw the death of a number of the current characters as the story progresses. Thank you for your support so I can continue drawing the manga until the end." She did not specify how many characters would die, instead using a phrase that alludes to "an indeterminate number." Ohtaka also wrote that the manga is at about the halfway point in the story and will slowly begin to wrap up.
The 21st volume of Magi will be released in Japan in April. Viz Media is publishing the manga in English and the fourth compiled volume shipped earlier this month.
