Japan Racing Association's Sumo Jockey Game Launches

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Japanese Racing Association (JRA) launched its Japan Sumo Derby in the form of a free-to-play browser game.

The game allows players to create their own sumo jockey, either by uploading a picture of themselves or choosing from the different hairstyles. The horse braving the weight to bring you to victory sports a traditional sumo top-knot.

The game will then introduce players to its mechanics before setting you off to race against one of the Japan Sumo Association's real wrestlers. A total of four races are available in the game so far, each preceded by an opening of the track being cleansed with salt. You'll have to use the moves you practiced to pull ahead of your rival and finish by unleashing your special technique.

The fourth race will pit you against a sumo-robot. Race prizes so far include a special downloadable wallpaper. The game will be updated with a new race sometime this week.
