Shibuya Dungeon Mobile Game Released on Android and iOS

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

Visiting Shibuya Station has never been so exciting, especially when treasure is involved.

The Japanese train station is brought to virtual reality in a brand new mobile action RPG for Android and iOS devices as "Shibuya Dungeon." This top-down dungeon crawler re-imagines several facets of the real-Life Train station in Shibuya as a mysterious maze filled with monsters and treasures.

Players take control of a brave knight who traverses the dungeon in search of an item known as the "Holy Dog Idol." While players can fight monsters as they advance through the labyrinth, they can also freely explore its many secrets for special items.

The creators of the game reportedly had a tough time pinning down the layout of the map according to the actual location, which had been undergoing renovations while the game was in development. As such, they have multiple dungeon layouts for players to traverse that they plan to release in the future. The creators also encourage players who frequent the actual station to see if they can find their own usual route.

The new game acts as a spiritual sequel to "Shinjuku Dungeon," released back in March. The game was praised for its accurate depiction of Shinjuku Station as well as its in-depth complexity. The game's popularity, having garnered over 500,000 downloads, eventually led it to a port on the Nintendo 3DS.
