Fans Speculate on Mr. Osomatsu Sequel Based on Hidden Messages

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Mr. Osomatsu anime series' came to an end on Monday, but cryptic messages in the episode's end card and hidden in the episode have fans speculating that it's only a matter of time before we see the sextuplets again. Of course, the staff could be simply poking fun at the concept of hidden messages all together.

The rumors started when the series' official page and Twitter account went on temporary standby, purportedly because the entire staff was waiting for the final episode to premiere.

The website was replaced with a humorous image in the meantime before things went back to normal at 10:00 a.m.

One user took this screenshot of a supposedly hidden message that appears right before the end of the episode. From left to right it reads "永 我 鳴 鳴 月 ブ 第" which means nothing, but can be transliterated as "えい が な な がつ ぶ たい" or "ei ga na na gatsu bu tai," which means "film in theaters July."

Fans are rearranging the alien letters in the end card to get "2期放送けってい," which means "2nd season broadcast confirmed." Other fans have noted that this is a stretch.

Another viewer found a message hidden in the school's graffiti.

It reads "Aki ni Two Aru yo" or "Two will be in the fall."

The most telling clue of Mr. Osomatsu's return, however, is written in the red letters on the end card that reads "Mata Itsuka" or "See You Again Someday."

It would be a surprise if Mr. Osomatsu didn't continue after its popularity has more or less printed money for a variety of industries. Throngs of fans waited in massive lines to get into Haru Comic City 21 dōjin event, specifically the Mr. Osomatsu-geared portion. Analysis author, Meiji University Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library staff member, and Niconico Gakkai β executive committee member "myrmecoleon" predicted a major increase in Mr. Osomatsu circles after Comiket 89 based off the show's popularity on pixiv.

Mr. Osomatsu was put on the cover of issues of PASH!, Otomedia, and Animage, causing the issues to sell out and to PASH!'s March issue printing an unprecedented 100,000 copies. The characters recently collaborated with Japan's national baseball team.
