New Cannabis Works Art Book Explores Tatsuyuki Tanaka's Sensibility

13 years after the publication of the art book Cannabis Works, veteran animator Tatsuyuki Tanaka is back with a follow-up, Cannabis Works 2. The work contains book covers, magazine illustrations, CD jacket illustrations, art for the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2015, character designs for Short Peace (among other projects), drawings and sketches for various unrealized projects, and a 22-page story drawn for this book called "Visitor."
Tanaka's resume includes work with famous directors Katsuhiro Ōtomo (Akira, Short Peace) and Hideaki Anno (Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water). He has also contributed the short Tojin Kit to Genius Party, drew character designs for the esoteric 1995 horror RPG Linda³, designed weapons for the live-action Gantz, and directed music videos for Hikaru Utada ("Wonder 'Bout") and Akaiko-en ("Kōshin"). Cannabis Works 2 will be published on April 23 for 2,700 yen ($24). Customers who purchase it through Fukkan.com will get a T-shirt included with the book for a total price of 6,156 yen ($54.76).
