Pokémon Evolved Mod for Ark: Survival Evolved Returns After DMCA Hit

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Pokémon Evolved mod designed by The Mystic Academy, hmind, and Tbjbu2, was previously hit with a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) claim but is now once again up and available for download on Steam. The mod brings the world of Pokémon to life by altering the Ark: Survival Evolved multiplayer online survival game. The Mystic Academy surmises that the previous DMCA was actually sent by a competing mod creator.

There's no word how long The Pokémon Company will turn a blind eye to this particular infraction. Currently, the mod's Steam page still states that a DMCA was issued.

“This mod was created to bring a whole new world to the players of Ark,” Mystic Academy wrote on the mod's Steam page. “Like many other Ark players, I had become bored with just modding dinos and the other Ark craftables. The team went ahead and started to create a conversion to Ark that would remove everything that you are used to and replace it with the style from Pokémon.”

The mod has 29 Pokémon available so far and virtual reality capabilities that work with the Oculus Rift and Vive.

Preston Dunagan previously made Pokémon's Kanto region using the Unreal 4 Engine and Pokémon have previously been used in its "A Boy and His Kite" demo by CryZENx.
