Sequels Dominate Most Anticipated Winter 2018 Anime Poll

Winter is upon us, and while things are getting chilly outside, the upcoming anime season is heating up. Fans in Japan were polled on which series they are most looking forward to come January. The selection is packed with highly anticipated sequels, male idols, and brand-new additions. However, it was the sequels that overtook the top five, with every entry being either a new installment in an established franchise or a direct continuation to a popular show.
The overall results put the second season of the supernatural comedy The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. in first place. The story follows an otherwise normal teen with supernatural powers that get him more trouble than accolades.
In second place is Fate/Extra Last Encore, the latest addition to the rapidly expanding Fate/stay night series that so far includes remakes, alternate route films, magical girl spin-offs, and more. This latest addition by Shaft takes place in the Fate/Extra universe from Marvelous Entertainment and Type-Moon's PSP games where mana no longer naturally exists on Earth.
Rounding out third place is Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, the sequel to CLAMP's popular magical girl series. The story kicks off when Sakura and Li are reunited in middle school. Ready to be a lovey-dovey couple, those hopes are sidelined when Sakura's magic cards become clear and she has to recapture the magic entities running loose in town.
