Are Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions & Tamako Market in the Same Universe?

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Newest promotional video is either proof or just an Easter egg...

Fans come up with all sorts of theories to prove moves exist in the same continuity. This includes the popular theory that all of the Pixar films are interconnected or that Predator and The Terminator are happening concurrently. Similar theories exist for anime series also exist, the latest being that Kyoto Animation's Tamako Market and Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! take place in the same timeline.

The theory is fueled by the latest promotional video for the Eiga Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! Take On Me film where the Tamaya shop appears at about the halfway mark. The mochi shop is run by Tamako's family in the Tamako Market series, while the promotional video shows Chunibyo leads Yūta Togashi and Rikka Takanashi walking past the shop and in the neighboring shopping district.

This asks the question of whether the two series are connected or if the shop was placed in the film as a fun Easter egg for fans. Love, Chunibyo, & Other Delusions is based on an original novel by Torako while Tamako Market is a completely original work by the Kyoto Animation staff.

Whether the anime series are interconnected or the shop is merely a shout out will remain disputed. Ultimately, its your own head canon to decide.
