Idol Yui Ogura Promotes Gunma City as Tourism Ambassador

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Voice actress and idol Yui Ogura is continuing her duties as a tourism ambassador for Gunma Prefecture's Midori city. Ogura is a native to Gunma and originally signed on to help promote the area on October 22, 2016. This time she's helping promote Midori in two campaigns, "Four Seasons of Midori" and "Nagame Theatre". Posters for each campaign were revealed on the official website on May 1.

The posters are visible in tourism areas and public facilities throughout Midori city. The city is home to multiple tourist attractions for a relatively small city of 51,000. Visitors can check out the Tomihiro Art Museum, the Iwajuku Museum and archaeological site, the birth place of the "father of modern Japanese steelworks" Kaichiro Imaizumi, and the Odaira no Sato Botanical Gardens.

Ogura narrated a 26-minute promotional tourism video for Midori city last year.

Yui Ogura may be best known for her reoccurring role as Tomarin in the Teekyū anime series as well as voicing Kokona Aoba in the Encouragement of Climb anime series.

Other voice actors and manga and anime industry leaders have come out to support different regions of Japan as tourism ambassadors. Btooom! author Junya Inoue is an ambassador for the city of Shimanto in Kōchi prefecture and Nana Mizuki signed on as an image girl for her home prefecture of Ehime.
