Double Dragon Returns to the Streets with SNES Cartridge This Summer

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Brothers Billy and Jimmy Lee are ready to take on the Black Warriors gang again. It's over two decades later, but the Double Dragon brothers' fourth game, Super Nintendo's Super Double Dragon (Japanese title Return of Double Dragon), is getting a cartridge re-release this summer.

Retroism announced on Friday that its collaborating with Arc System Works of Japan to bring Technos Japan's 1992 beat 'em up to North America on July 19. The release will be compatible with most SNES compatible devices.

Retroism's release is the first time Return of Double Dragon will be localized in English. The game is not an exact counterpart of Super Double Dragon and contains mechanical differences, a rearranged soundtrack, and two additional levels. Retroism's release is an officially licensed ROM of the game, not an emulated version.

The first print run will include a red cartridge. The game is available for pre-order on Amazon for US$49.99.

If you have an old gaming system to dust-off, now's the time. You can also add the original Nintendo's Holy Diver game by Irem to your catalog.
