Goku Takes Manhattan in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Before Goku faces Broly in American theaters on January 16, he'll appear before his adoring fans in Manhattan as a 56-foot tall parade float. The biggest Super Saiyan yet is joining Macy's 92nd Thanksgiving Day Parade with the likes of John Legend, Rita Ora, and Diana Ross.

Macy's Studio Artists worked directly with Toei Animation to capture Goku as authentically as possible. The staff undertook an arduous process to make sure everything was just right. The balloon underwent color adjustments and flight tests to make sure Goku would soar above the crowds of spectators on November 22.

The parade line-up will feature 16 giant character balloons; 43 novelty balloons, heritage balloons, balloonicles, balloonheads and trycaloons; 26 floats; 1,200 cheerleaders and dancers; more than 1,000 clowns; and 12 marching bands.

Pikachu will also return this year to join Goku in the sky along with fellow hero, the Red Ranger from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.

The parade will air live on Thanksgiving Day on November 22. If you want to catch a glimpse of Goku on the go, Verizon's YouTube page will host a live stream starting at 9 a.m. EST until noon.
