Laid-Back Camp Joins Forces with Hokkaido Variety Show How Do You Like Wednesday?

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The campers of Afro's Laid-Back Camp anime and manga are collaborating with the variety program How Do You Like Wednesday? for a music video and more. Afro drew a collaboration visual to memorialize the event and both shows are referencing one another in official artwork.

The Laid-Back Campers can be seen wearing costumes related to the variety program with references to the Hokkaido area where the show is filmed. The characters are standing in Sapporo's Hiragishitakadai Park. In Afro's artworkRin is shown with How Do You Like Wednesday? directors Tadahisa Fujimura and Masamichi Ureshino.

The music video includes clips from the first season of the anime series set to How Do You Like Wednesday's theme song "1/6 no Yume Tabibito 2002." Fujimura supervised the music video.

The How Do You Like Wednesday? show will hold an event on October 4 to 6 at the Sapporo Bankei Ski Area in Hokkaido where attendees can purchase crossover merchandise.

How Do You Like Wednesday? premiered in 1996 and is notable for being one of the first variety programs set in Hokkaido. The show is credited for launching Yō Ōizumi's acting career, possibly known best to anime fans as the voice of Professor Hershel Layton in the puzzle game series and No-Face in Miyazaki's Spirited Away film.

The first Laid-Back Camp anime premiered in January 2018, and Crunchyroll streamed the 12-episode series as it aired. The anime's home video release in Japan included an "episode 0" anime. The series will get a new film, short form anime, and a second regular television season.
