According to the Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Century Fox has aquired the rights to create a live action feature film version of Dragon Ball.

Apparrently Fox Film Entertainment Chairman Jim Gianopulos flew to Japan himself to meet with Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and representatives from Dragon Ball publisher Shueisha. A deal was hammerred out, allowing Fox to produce the movie with Shueisha's collaboration. Fox and Shueisha will also collaborate on other future projects.

The live action Dragon Ball film will be overseen by Elizabeth Gabler and Jack Leslie is the director of production. Fox has not yet made public the director or the screenplay writer and may not have assigned these tasks to anyone yet.

This is not the first live action rendition of Dragon Ball. Directed by Hong Kong directors Joe Chan and Leung Chung, "Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins" was released in 1989. Not a stellar seller, this movie is available for $13 on DVD and $4 on VHS (Bundled with another DB tape) from Amazon.com.
