Battle Angel returns!

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Viz announces a release date for the long awaited sequel to Battle Angel Alita; Last Order will be released in September.

Excerpts from Press Release:

Viz Communications, Inc. today announced the September release of Battle Angel Alita: Last Order. Created by Yukito Kishiro, manga's favorite female cyborg returns to the extensive Viz Comics line and makes her comeback in Part 1, #1, which features 48 black-and-white pages for $2.95 U.S. ($4.95 CAN).

The long-awaited continuation of the 9-volume best-selling series, Battle Angel Alita: Last Order updates Alita's continuous struggle to discover her mysterious past and unveils the series' original ending-—as the author intended-—for the first time in English! Destroyed by the mad scientist Desty Nova, Alita wakes up to find herself in “heaven”—-the floating sky-city known as Tiphares, miles above the dystopian Scrapyard. Reborn in a strange place with a new body, Alita must remember her old identity and face the masters of the world-—the unseen wardens of the asylum called Tiphares. Known as GUNNM (Gun Dream) in Japan, Battle Angel Alita: Last Order has been running in Japan's monthly manga magazine Ultra Jump since December 2000.

When he was only seventeen, Yukito Kishiro (http://www.yukito.com/) was nominated for Japanese publisher Shogakukan's “Best New Comic Artist” award. Creator of popular series such as Aqua Knight, Ashen Victor and Battle Angel Alita, Kishiro is known for his strong characters, original settings and intricate, lifelike artwork. Born in 1967 in Tokyo, Kishiro spent his childhood in China.
