Weekend Box Office Numbers

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie started its limited theatrical release this past weekend in 19 theatres and 20th spot in the box office chart. Cowboy Bebop: The Movie brought in an impressive $12,338 per screen, somewhat behind the $17,301 per screen that Spirited Away grossed during the first weekend of its limited release.

Meanwhile, in the second week of its wide theatrical release, Spirited Away expanded from 711 to 714 theatres and grossed $1,033,954 ($1448 per screen), down from $1,765,491 last weekend. Through the week (Monday - Thursday) Spirited Away grossed an additional $342,438 bringing its box office (after the weekend) total to $8,879,467.

Meanwhile, the top box office earners this weekend, Phone Booth, What a Girl Wants and A Man Apart, all in their first week, earned $15 million, $11.4 million and $11 million respectively. Fellow Oscar winner Chicago earned $6.1 million.
