Museum Dedicated to Case Closed Author Opens in March

Aoyama Gosho Furusato Museum Opens March 18th in Shimane Prefecture
A museum dedicated to the work of manga author Aoyama Gosho will open March 18th in the town of Hokuei in Shimane Prefecture. Aoyama, the creator of Meitantei Conan (released in North America as "Case Closed") and Yaiba, was born in the town of Daiei. The town was combined with other towns in the area in 2005 to form what is now Hokuei. The construction and operation of the museum is part of a town revitalization (machi okoshi) project to increase visitors to the area.
The Aoyama Gosho Furusato Museum will showcase Aoyama's life in Daiei along with his many works. Exhibits will mainly focus on Yaiba and Meitantei Conan. The museum will also feature a Gift Shop and Cafeteria. The town of Hokuei aims to have over 130,000 people visit the museum every year.
Meitantei Conan has remained one of the most popular manga and anime series in Japan since its debut in Shonen Sunday in 1994. The 11th movie based on the series hits theatres in Japan later this year.
