Nikkatsu Establishes Subsidiary in Los Angeles

Nikkatsu Corporation, an Index Group company, is establishing an American subsidiary in Los Angeles, California in April. Nikkatsu Pictures International, Inc. aims to increase opportunities for its parent company's overseas business strategy with an initial budget of US$500,000.
The Madhouse anime studio, another Index Group company, had already established a subsidiary in Los Angeles in 2004. Other companies in the group include the Atlus game maker and the T2i joint venture with Tatsunoko Production. Nikkatsu produced several anime-related projects, including the two Genius Party omnibus movies, the tentatively titled L spinoff off the Death Note live-action adaptation, and the Yatterman and Ninja Science Team Gatchaman live-action movie remakes.
