Viz Pictures Licenses Live-Action Death Note Films
posted on 2007-09-19 01:51 EDTViz Pictures, Viz Media's affiliate for live-action film releases, has announced that it has licensed the Death Note supernatural suspense feature and the Death Note: The Last Name companion film. The two movies retell the main story of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's Death Note manga with some original elements. Viz Media already licensed both the manga and the anime adaptation. The films will play at Austin's Fantastic Fest 2007 (September 20-27) and the 2007 Vancouver Asian Film Festival (November 1-4). More theatrical showings are planned, as well as DVD releases in the summer of 2008.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie Blu-ray
Fullmetal Alchemist is a series for the ages, and even if this part of it doesn't quite live up to its earlier incarnation, it's well worth watching and definitely worth owning. Fans will deeply appreciate this better-looking re-release.

Some horror fans will undoubtedly find this collection of tales about a town seemingly cursed by spirals to be to their taste, but its lack of a consistent compelling edge prevents it from being a great work.
