Nippon Animation will premiere Porufi no Nagai Tabi (The Long Journey of Porphy or Porphyras), an adaptation of French author Paul-Jacques Bonzon's Les Orphelins de Simitra (The Orphans of Simitra) novel and the 25th entry in the company's World Masterpiece Theater franchise, on January 6 at 7:30 p.m. on the BS Fuji satellite channel. In the original novel, Porphyras (Yuki Kaida) is a Greek boy who was orphaned with his sister Mina (Ayumi Fujimura) by an earthquake. The two siblings decide to embark on a journey across Europe instead of staying in their foster home in an unfamiliar country.
Anime veteran Tomomi Mochizuki (Kimagure Orange Road, Ocean Waves) will direct a script by Kei Kunii (Oshare Majo Love and Berry: Shiawase no Mahou, The Princess Blade). Shigeo Akahori (Shinkai Densetsu Meremanoid, Texhnolyze) will design the characters.
