Otoko Juku Live-Action Film Remake's Trailers Posted

Original manga inspired TV anime, anime film, Cromartie High School

The official website for the live-action adaptation of Akira Miyashita's Sakigake!! Otoko Juku manga has posted a short trailer (500K or 1000K bandwidth) and a long trailer (500K or 1000K bandwidth). This movie about school delinquents has been given the English title Be a Man! Samurai School. (The original title loosely translates as "Charge!! Man School.") Actor Tak Sakaguchi (Versus, Azumi, SHINOBI) not only stars in this remake, but also directs and scripts for the first time. The film will open nationwide in Japan at the end of January.

The story revolves around a high school for the very worst delinquent boys and the almost Darwinian daily battles to be the alpha male, or at least survive. The original manga was a hit in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine with a 1985-1991 serialization run and 34 compiled volumes. It not only inspired a 1988 television series and a 1988 animated movie, but also a long line of school brawl manga. Among its successors is Eiji Nonaka's Cromartie High School parody manga and anime about another school for delinquents. (Chomartie's original Japanese title is Sakigake!! Cromartie Kōkō, a homage to Miyashita's manga.)
