First episode has main lead Gorō heading to Arizona for big league tryouts

The Japanese public broadcaster NHK has posted the preview for "Yakyū no Furusato e" ("To the Birthplace of Baseball"), the first episode of the fourth Major baseball anime series. (In the linked page, select the blue "Trailer & Schedule" button.) After rising through the ranks of Japan's junior high school and high school baseball teams, Gorō heads off alone to America to make it in the big leagues, literally. He gets into some trouble upon arriving at the Los Angeles Airport, but gets some unexpected help from another expatriate, Hayato Yaginuma. Together the two head to Arizona, the spring training home of the "Anaheim Salmons," for the big tryouts.

The Major anime series is based on the long-running (1994-ongoing) manga of the same name by Takuya Mitsuda, although the manga and anime storylines have diverged as the years have passed. In addition to the fourth anime series which premieres next Wednesday, the first Major film has been greenlit for a January 2009 opening.
