The PopCultureShock.com online magazine has unveiled a ComicRankings feature that averages the review ratings of each comic and manga title — similar to how Rotten Tomatoes averages review ratings for movies or to how GameRankings and GameStats do the same for games. Although the website is still evolving, it currently gives the top rankings (and in some cases, the bottom rankings) for publishers, creators, series, and individual issues. With an average score of 81.7% out of 67 reviews, the manga distributor Del Rey tops the publisher scores, and Viz Media is not far behind at #2 with 80.8% out of 153 reviews. Dark Horse Comics, Tokyopop, DC (CMX's parent company), and Marvel come in at #4, #9, #10, and #11, respectively. The site also offers a graph for each publisher, creator, and series to get a sense of how each is faring among critics over time.
