Japan's .Anime Sells Gundam 00 Set with Uniform Jacket

posted on by Egan Loo
Separately, Gundam 00 Blu-ray Disc releases have been announced in Japan

The Saishin Anime Jōhō website reports that Bandai Visual's Japanese .Anime retail site has announced a limited Mobile Suit Gundam 00 set with "all the DVD volumes and a Celestial Being jacket." The announcement of the 49,980-yen (about US$457), seven-DVD set indirectly reveals that the first Gundam 00 television run will have 26 episodes (two episodes in the first DVD and four episodes in the remaining six DVDs) and that the first run will be released as a self-contained series and not just a season. The producers had previously announced that the first run will have 25 episodes and that the Fall 2008 run would be considered the second season of the same series.

In addition to receiving each DVD as it comes out, the set's buyers will receive a Celestial Being mechanic's uniform, which consists of a MA-1 bomber-style jacket (in Japanese L or LL sizes) with an embroidered back logo and matching cap. (The image to the right is a preliminary design.) A separate 45,000-yen (about US$411), set will offer an alarm clock, that features the voices of Haro and the four main Gundam Meister pilots, instead of the uniform.

In a separate development, the Gunota Headlines website reports that a leaked poster has announced that Gundam 00 will also receive a Blu-ray Disc release starting this summer. Gundam 00 is the first Gundam television series animated and broadcasted in high definition (known as "hi-vision" in Japan).
