USA's Shonen Jump Replaces Hikaru no Go with Slam Dunk

posted on by Egan Loo
Hikaru no Go graphic novels to continue in October

The American Go Association (AGA) notes that Viz Media's Shonen Jump magazine is replacing Yumi Hotta and Takeshi Obata's Hikaru no Go manga with Takehiko Inoue's Slam Dunk basketball manga after the April issue (on sale this week). Viz will continue publishing Hikaru no Go in graphic novel format in October. The AGA also notes that in the four years since Shonen Jump began running Hikaru no Go, many children have been drawn to the ancient Japanese board game of go. The association's youth membership quadrupled, and the American Go Foundation added 200 new youth clubs.
