Hajime no Ippo's George Morikawa to Draw 1-Shot Manga

Shōnen Rival mag to have Blazer Drive from O-Parts' Kishimoto, Moyashimon

An advertisement in the April issue (released on February 26) of Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine has announced that George Morikawa (Hajime no Ippo/Fighting Spirit) will draw an unnamed one-shot manga for the April 4 launch of Monthly Shōnen Rival magazine. The advertisement also lists a special edition of the Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture medical comedy manga (pictured at right) from Masayuki Ishikawa. Blazer Drive is the manga title that Seishi Kishimoto (O-Parts Hunter) will premiere in the same Shōnen Rival premiere issue. The first indication of Morikawa's involvement in the magazine came when he judged the 1st Shōnen Rival Comic Grand Prix contest. Hajime no Ippo and Moyashimon have been adapted into hit anime, and Viz Media has been releasing the O-Parts Hunter manga in English.

The magazine also includes the debuts of the card-game-based Monster Hunter Orage series by Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail, Rave Master) and the Holy Talker series from GetBackers artist Rando Ayamine. Kodansha is planning 300,000 copies of the magazine's premiere issue. Del Rey will launch the English version of Fairy Tail next month, and Tokyopop has been releasing both Rave Master and GetBackers in English.
