X Japan, Other Artists to Hold "Hide Memorial Summit"

Luna Sea, Dir en grey, T.M. Revolution expected at May 3-4 concerts on 10th anniversary

Japan's Sankei Sports newspaper reported on Thursday that the X Japan rock group will hold two memorial concerts in Tokyo on May 3 and 4 in honor of former guitarist hide, who died ten years ago on May 2, 1998. About 20 artists are expected to participate in the "hide memorial summit," including Luna Sea, Dir en grey, and T.M.Revolution. The planners are expecting 100,000 people to attend the concerts at the Ajinomoto Stadium. (An estimated 50,000 mourners attended hide's funeral on May 7, 1998.)

X Japan, without hide, is already reuniting next week for a three-night, sold-out concert run called "X Japan Kōgeki Saikai 2008 I.V. ~Hametsu ni Mukatte" ("X Japan to resume its attack in 2008 I.V. - towards destruction"). These will be the first full X Japan concerts since the group disbanded in 1997. The group had performed the music in the 1993 animated music video collection and the "Forever Love" ending theme song in Rintarō's 1996 X anime movie. Both Madhouse works were based on the X manga by CLAMP.
