Antarctic Press, Del Rey, Yen Press to also offer world manga on Saturday

The North American publishers Viz Media and Drawn and Quarterly will be giving away sample issues of Japanese manga during Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, and Antarctic Press, Del Rey, and Yen Press will also be offering free world manga. Viz Media's Shonen Jump magazine will distribute a free 32-page issue with samples of Naruto, Bleach, and Slam Dunk as well as short introductions to several other series. Drawn and Quarterly's Gekiga sampler will excerpt Yoshihiro Tatsumi's Good-Bye and Seiichi Hayashi's Red Colored Elegy from the early 1970s; the company will release the full versions of these avant-garde titles starting this month.

Antarctic Press has sent out free "Pocket Manga" sized versions of Rod Espinosa's Neotopia for Saturday. Del Rey Manga will include a part of Dean Koontz's In Odd We Trust graphic novel which was developed by Queenie Chan. Newcomer Yen Press is offering a preview of Maximum Ride, the graphic novel adaptation of James Patterson's novel series by the same name.

As a Gold Sponsor of Free Comic Book Day, Viz Media is offering its free issue to all participating comic book stores. The other publishers listed above are Silver Sponsors, and the availability of their titles will vary by store.
