High School Debut's Kawahara Launches Aozora Yell (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo
Shōjo manga about girl who joins high school band, meets boy

Kazune Kawahara, the shōjo manga artist of High School Debut and Ai no Tame ni, will launch a new manga called Aozora Yell (Blue-Sky Yell) in the September issue (on sale on August 11) of Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine. The announcement is being made on July 11 in the current August issue, which is also publishing the final chapter of High School Debut after five years and 12 compiled volumes. Kawahara writes that she wants to try writing about life in a high school club for her new manga.

Aozora Yell will center on Tsubasa, a girl who saw an inspirational brass band performance at the finals of the Japanese high school baseball championships one summer. Tsubasa vows to join the band when she enters high school, and she happens to meet a certain boy there.

Viz Media has published the fourth volume of High School Debut in North America this month.

Update: The same September issue of Bessatsu Margaret will also launch Momoko Kōda's Yotteke! Otoko-mura manga about a male-hating girl who is dumped in an all-male town to find a fiancé. Riya Sakurai will start an adult gag manga called Hime-Gimi (Princess Gimi).
