Futabasha Launches Free Web Comic High! Service

posted on by Egan Loo
Japanese manga posted in multi-platform viewer three times a month for free

The Japanese publisher Futabasha has launched its WEB Comic High! service for free distribution of selected manga titles on Wednesday. The service is sponsored by the official website of monthly Comic High! magazine, although there is no overlap in titles between the print magazine and the free web service. Since the service's comic viewer software runs entirely within a web browser, no special software is required; the viewer runs on compatible browsers for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X/9, and Redhat Linux.

Three of the free titles — Yoshikazu Hamada's Tsugumomo, Tiv's Annyon!, and Ataru Kotani's Nemuri Hime no Haguhagu — have run in the free Comic Seed! web manga magazine before. The six other titles by Shiro Amano, Mera Hakamada, Rikako Inomoto, Ayun Tachibana, Kōichi Kusano, and Masahide Ichijō are new series. New manga installments are added on the 10th, 20th, and 30th of every month, or one weekday earlier if those dates fall on a holiday.
