X Japan Delays World, Japan Tour Stops to 2009

More stops planned besides Paris, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taiwan, Korea

X Japan, the rock band that reunited in 2007 after a decade apart, has announced on its website on Saturday that it is delaying its Paris concert and its Christmas concerts in Saitama, Japan until next year. The website cites a decision by the concert's management team for the delay. Specifically, America's Azoff Management and Filament Inc. have determined with their new partner, the concert promotion company AEG, that a newer long-term strategy will have more success and take X Japan to more cities around the world. X Japan's New Year's Eve countdown concert in Tokyo's Akasaka Blitz will go on as scheduled.

Paris will still launch the world tour, but the planned November 22 concert will now take place in 2009. Likewise, the December 24 and 25 concerts in Saitama will be replaced with a larger concert tour across all of Japan in the spring of 2009. After the Paris concert, the group will still adhere to a schedule that includes stops in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taiwan, and Korea. X Japan is also planning to go to more Northern European tour stops in Sweden and other locations. No mention has been made yet of an American tour stop, ever since the planned New York stop was cancelled earlier this year.

X Japan's most notable anime contributions were the songs in the music video collection and later X movie. The animation studio Madhouse adapted both productions from CLAMP's X manga.
