Yu-Gi-Oh Dispute Between Konami, Upper Deck Continues

posted on by Egan Loo

The card company Upper Deck Entertainment announced this week that it cannot fill orders for Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Champion Packs — packs with exclusive cards that are distributed at tournaments. In response, the card game's licensor Konami Digital Entertainment reiterated its assertion that it, and not Upper Deck, is the exclusive worldwide licensee for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Yumi Hoashi, Konami Vice President of Card Business, said, "Despite what was recently announced by The Upper Deck Company (UDC), the distribution agreement between Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) and UDC for North America has been terminated." The dispute went public last month and has already gone to court in the Netherlands and United States.
