posted on 2009-03-18 00:43 EDT

A flyer has announced that an anime adaptation of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun), Motoi Fuyukawa's manga spinoff of Kazuma Kamachi's To Aru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magic Index) light novels, has been green-lit. More details will be announced on the official website. To Aru Majutsu no Index has already been made into an anime last October. The To Aru Kagaku no Railgun manga has been running in ASCII MediaWorks' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine since the April 2007 issue, and three compiled volumes have been published.

The To Aru Kagaku no Railgun side story is based on Kamachi's original story set in Academy City, a city where about 80% of its 230,000 citizens are students. The story deals with the adventures of Mikoto Misaka, one of the Level 5 psychics in the To Aru Majutsu no Index light novels.
