Tohru Fujisawa brings back main star of GTO and GTO: The Early Years

This year's 27th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine will announce on Wednesday that Tohru Fujisawa's Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) manga is returning under the name GTO: Shonan 14 Days. The Shōnan setting is the coastal bay area near Tokyo that is also the locale of Fujisawa's Shōnan Junai-gumi (GTO: The Early Years, pictured at right). Tokyopop released the original GTO manga and GTO: The Early Years, both of which recount the misadventures of Ekichi Onizuka, the biker gang member who becomes the "Greatest Teacher in the World."

Since ending the first GTO manga, Fujisawa has been working on the Tokko, Rose Hip Rose, Animal Joe, and Unhappy! manga. Tokyopop licensed Tokko and Rose Hip Rose.
