Final Fantasy VII: ACC Was #2 U.S. BD in First Week

CG anime film trailed Daniel Craig's Defiance film by only 14%

Sony's release of the Japanese computer-animated film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete was the #2 bestselling Blu-ray Disc (BD) during its first week of release at the beginning of June. According to the Nielsen VideoScan BD charts, the film trailed the #1 BD release, Paramount's Defiance film, by only 14% in sales.

Advent Children Complete is the new high-definition edition of Square Enix's 2006 feature that recounts the story after the Final Fantasy VII role-playing game. The new version features 26 minutes of new footage, the anime adaptation of the Final Fantasy VII spinoff novelette On the Way to a Smile Episode: Denzel, a re-recorded dub with Rachel Leigh Cook and Mena Suvari, and the new "Safe and Sound" theme song. Advent Children's original theme song singer Kyōsuke Himuro and My Chemical Romance band co-founder Gerard Way performed the new song.

Advent Children Complete reportedly sold over 100,000 copies on its first day in Japan in April, although there were three different versions issued in that country on that day. The original North American and European DVD releases of Advent Children sold 1.4 million copies as the #1 anime DVD release of 2006.
