Tecmo Cancels Bastard!! MMORPG's Development (Updated)

Studio cites current trends, future prospects for manga-based Japanese Windows game

The game studio Tecmo has announced on Friday that it has cancelled development on Bastard!! Online, a massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on Kazushi Hagiwara's Bastard!! fantasy action manga. Tecmo announced the game for Japanese Microsoft Windows systems at its strategic project meeting in 2005. In Friday's press release, the company said it considered the current market trends and future prospects when it made its decision to cancel development.

Viz Media will publish the 20th volume of the original manga in North America next month. Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. released the six-part video anime series adaptation of the manga.
