Manga creator Yu Yabuuchi has revealed in her blog on Sunday that she will relaunch her critically acclaimed Naisho no Tsubomi sex education manga. The seventh run of Naisho no Tsubomi will appear in the April issue of Shogakukan's Shōgaku Yonensei (literally, "Elementary Fourth-Grader") magazines in March. She has another new manga series that she will launch in the April issue of Shogakukan's Ciao magazine in March as well.
In Naisho no Tsubomi, a fifth-grade girl named Tsubomi deals with issues such as her mother's pregnancy, her first period, and budding feelings for boys. This "girls' sex education" manga (and its Mebae prequel) had run in Shogakukan's Shōgaku Yonensei and Shōgaku Gonensei ("Elementary Fifth- Grader") magazines since 2004. Naisho no Tsubomi won the Children's category in the 54th Shogakukan Manga Award last year.
Yabuuchi also drew another manga called Hatsukoi Shinan in Shogakukan's ChuChu magazine from 2008 until 2009. However, Shogakukan announced in October that it will end both Shōgaku Gonensei and ChuChu on February 3 and December 28, respectively. The last issue of ChuChu published the final installment of Hatsukoi Shinan, but it also announced that Yabuuchi's work will reappear in Ciao.
Both Naisho no Tsubomi and an earlier Yabuuchi manga, Mizuiro Jidai, had been adapted into anime, but none of Yabuuchi's works have been released in North America yet.
