Tokyopop's BLU Boys-Love Imprint Raises Prices

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
2nd price raise in 3 years; all books to add bonus color pages

BLU, the boys-love imprint of the North American manga publisher Tokyopop, is increasing its book prices from US$12.99 to US$14.99 (or from CAN$16.99 to CAN$18.99) starting next month.

BLU told ANN in an email message that in exchange for the price increase, all BLU books will now include bonus color pages.

The company announced at New York Anime Festival in September that it would publish the following one-volume titles in 2010: Hinako Takanaga's Croquis, Sakyou Yozakura's Blood Honey, Lemon Ichijō's Love Knot, Hiro Madarame's Cute Devil, and DUO BRAND's Isle of Forbidden Love. In December, BLU added Madarame's Scaret and Miu Ootsuki's Calling — both also one-volume titles — to its 2010 lineup. BLU also announced it would release more volumes of some of its continuing series in 2010: Yaya Sakuragi's Tea for Two, Hinako Takanaga's You will drown in Love, Kairi Shimotsuki's Madness, Enjin Yamimaru's Voice or Noise, and Shungiku Nakamura's Junjo Romantica.

Previously, BLU increased the prices of its titles from US$9.99 to US$12.99 in January 2008.
