Comic Bunch, Comic Yuri Hime S Mags to End Publication

Bunch editors plan new mag; Comic Yuri Hime sibling mag switches to bimonthly

The Japanese publisher Shinchosha is ending its publication of Weekly Comic Bunch magazine on August 27. Shinchosha's partner, Coamix, has been editing Comic Bunch since it launched in 2001 with a print run of over 700,000 copies. However, the Japanese Magazine Publishers Association reported that the magazine's circulation had dropped to 166,672 last year and now stands at 140,000. Coamix is considering launching a new manga magazine this fall.

Among the many titles that Comic Bunch serialized were Fist of the Blue Sky, Angel Heart, Akihabara @ DEEP, Brave Story: A Retelling of a Classic, Divorce Living Together, No Longer Human, and My Girl.

Another Japanese publisher, Ichijinsha, is ending its quarterly publication of Comic Yuri Hime S magazine in the next issue, Vol. 14, on September 18. However, its sibling magazine Comic Yuri Hime will be moving from a quarterly release schedule to a bimonthly one. Comic Yuri Hime was aimed primarily at female readers of yuri manga, while Comic Yuri Hime S launched in 2007 for primarily male readers. Vol. 13 of Comic Yuri Hime S, which shipped on Friday, announced that the revamped Comic Yuri Hime will combine the "essence" of the two magazines.

Comic Yuri Hime S's launch titles included Honey Crush by He is my Master creator Asu Tsubaki, Minus Literacy by Maburaho artist Miki Miyashita, Cassiopeia Dolce by Kokoro Library's Nobuyuki Takagi, SUIKA by Eat-Man's Akihito Yoshitomi, Otome-Iro Stay Tune by Di Gi Charat contributor Miyabi Fujieda, and Fortune Ring by Sora no Manimani's Mami Kashiwabara. It also serialized Namori's Yuruyuri manga. Futari to Futari, Kaichō to Fukukaichō and Honey Crush all ended in the current issue.
