News Vertical Adds Jiro Matsumoto's Velveteen & Mandala Manga (Updated)

2009 1-volume story about 2 high school girls fighting zombies by Freesia author
The North American publisher Vertical has announced at its Anime Weekend Atlanta panel on Sunday that it licensed the Velveteen & Mandala (Becchin to Mandara) manga by Jiro Matsumoto. The story centers around Velveteen (Becchin), a high school girl who lives in a battle tank on a riverbed in Tokyo's Suginami ward, and her friend Mandala. Together, the two exterminate the zombies of dead Suginami citizens.
Matsumoto launched Velveteen & Mandala in Ohta's Manga Erotics F magazine after ending his Freesia manga last year. Ohta compiled and published the manga in one book volume last November.
Vertical will ship the manga in August of 2011.
Update: Vertical marketing director Ed Chavez notes that the book will spelled Velveteen & Mandala in English.
